Historical Art at La Posada HotelArt was an important part of La Posada in Mary Colter’s day, and La Posada was her most eclectic project. She imagined that this space was occupied by a very wealthy family—a family that traveled widely and collected broadly. Even in the 1930s, La Posada’s walls, halls, and rooms were adorned with everything from Russian to Chinese antiques, from rustic furniture “made by the ranch hands” to contemporary art—for Colter, Art Deco. The current owners, Allan Affeldt and Tina Mion, never envisioned this as a Southwestern home or a faux-hacienda frozen in time. True to Colter’s fantasy, La Posada is still a family home, and the art collection continues to be eclectic. As you can see, they too collect everything from Spanish antiques to contemporary art.
